We provide respite care, or short breaks of a minimum of two weeks, for those who are recovering from illness or who wish to give their family carer a rest. Residents can take advantage of our all-inclusive package as well as the wonderful care and hospitality we provide. This temporary stay is also frequently used as a chance to try out living with us before making a permanent move.
It’s crucial for carers to take care of themselves as providing care can be exhausting and stressful. Respite care allows carers to take a break, relax and recharge their batteries. This is not just good for the carer, but also their loved one, as the carer can be reinvigorated physically and mentally, allowing them to give their all again and the best care possible.
The loved one you’re caring for may also benefit from the variety, stimulation, and change of pace provided by a short break in a care home. At The Mayfield, we have fantastic carers, top-class cuisine, and a full programme of activities for our residents to enjoy.
When you’re the primary, long-term caregiver for a close family member, handing over the responsibility for their care can seem daunting. However, it’s important to remember that respite care is an integral part of the caregiving process, not just for you, but also the person you’re caring for and the rest of your family.
Although it may be clear to your friends, family, and even yourself that you need a break from the mental and physical strains of caregiving, actually asking for assistance is not always an easy step.
We’re here to help you every step of the way. Please don’t hesitate to contact us to discuss your options and how we can help.
