Mayfield Launches Recruitment
Whitby’s newest care home, The Mayfield, will open its doors to residents at the beginning of 2023. The recruitment process is now underway with a view to filling roles in its care, dining, housekeeping, maintenance and activities teams.
Initially, The Mayfield will employ approximately 30 local staff, with this number rising to about 60 as occupancy rises.
Values are at the heart of The Mayfield’s culture and ingrained in absolutely everything it does. These are compassion, thoughtfulness, integrity and excellence. All staff are recruited based on their alignment with these values, and this is tested throughout the process. Once The Mayfield is up and running, the residents themselves will also play a key part in the recruitment process.
The Mayfield is aiming to provide the very best person-centred care to its residents and recognises that to do this, it needs to give full support to its staff team. This means mentoring, well-being support, career progression, training, and a manager who has an open door and is always available to talk.
As well as the care teams, The Mayfield’s support teams will also be encouraged to take time to get to know the residents; being able to smile and chat with them is a core attribute of every role.
Adam Kane, General Manager at The Mayfield, said “Everyone at The Mayfield is thrilled and cannot wait to welcome residents. We are now actively seeking staff to come and join us on our journey. Working in a brand new home during its opening is a fabulous way to understand how the home operates. It also allows staff to make a real impact as we prepare – as a team – to open our doors to new residents. It is an exciting time but, for our staff, it represents the start of opportunities to progress their career. We are a progressive employer and help every member of staff to make the most of their role. We are dedicated to training and development and believe that investing in our staff is the right thing for them and our residents.”
He went on to say, “As a residential care home, we bring together the best of those personal touches and highly professional care; for us, our staff are a huge part of our community, and it’s their commitment and dedication that will make life so wonderful for our residents.”
The Mayfield will enjoy fabulous facilities, including a library, garden rooms, café bar, hair and beauty salon, as well as an abundance of beautiful communal spaces. The property has been designed and built around the needs and requirements of the residents and furnished with love, care and attention to those little details that will make it feel like home.
