We had a wonderful day celebrating King Charles and Queen Camilla’s coronation at The Mayfield yesterday. There had been a huge amount of preparation for the event with lots of bunting, balloons and lanterns made and put up by our team and residents, and delicious food prepared.
Our residents, their families and members of our team watched the ceremony which was being shown on our TVs. We were all transfixed by the magical occasion and the huge sense of history being made. There was a lot of conversation about where our residents watched the last coronation with several being huddled around small black and white TVs in a variety of places!
After the service, many more friends and family arrived, including several of our team members with their families which was lovely.
We then enjoyed a delicious buffet lunch, freshly prepared by our Kitchen Team. Highlights of the meal were the coronation chicken sandwiches, roasted honey sausages, bruschetta, and the stunning coronation cake, which was all washed down with Prosecco and Pimm’s!
Towards the end of the event our very talented Senior Carer Adam got his guitar out and played a couple of country songs which everyone enjoyed!
Many thanks to everyone who came along and to the whole of our brilliant team who worked extremely hard preparing for the event, and on the day looking after everyone so well. It was a joy to have so many people at The Mayfield for such a special occasion, and to see and meet so many friends and family.
